About this place
At Odoru-udon Umeda, a good place to start is shoyu udon topped with maitake tempura. The maitake tempura shoyu udon is available hot or cold, and the menu also offers versions with a soft-boiled egg or meat. Keep things crisp and savoury with the shoyu, or add egg or meat for a more substantial bowl.
Diners who tried the cold shoyu udon with meat, maitake tempura and a soft-boiled egg praised the chewy noodles and the crisp batter on the mushroom. One diner also enjoyed adding the accompanying sudachi citrus little by little. Break the egg yolk and mix it through the noodles and shoyu for a different taste with each bite. If you’d like the meat’s mildly sweet seasoning too, the meat, maitake tempura and soft-boiled egg shoyu udon is another option.
For a hot bowl, there’s maitake tempura and soft-boiled egg udon, as well as meat and maitake udon. One diner who ordered hot udon noted the bonito aroma of the broth alongside the maitake tempura—a different experience from the cold shoyu version. Medium-bottle beer is also on the menu, and some diners have ordered it with their udon.
The restaurant is on the basement floor of Osaka Ekimae Building No. 3, and serves both lunch and dinner. Payment is cash only, so remember to bring some along.
